McLaughlin, of Oshawa. Formerly the private library of the late John Buchan, first Baron Tweedsmuir, the collection is now a memorial to him in the country where he served as Governor-General from 1935 to 1940.Item John Rhodes Sturdy collection finding aid(Queen's University Library, 2024) W.D. Jordan Rare Books and Special Collections, StaffJohn Rhodes Sturdy (1911-1974) was a Canadian writer. He worked as a reporter for the Montreal Gazette (1929-1938), served in the Royal Canadian Navy, and was a public relations official for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He wrote many short stories and articles freelance for magazines, as well as screenplays, most notably for the movie "Corvette K-225" (1943).
