CANADA AND THE GREAT WAR, 1914 - 1918

The intent of this resource pack is to provide educators with a collection of engaging lesson plans which allow students to explore how Canada as a nation and Canadians as a people were affected by the First World War, using the Big 6 Historical Thinking Concepts. Students will analyze primary sources, act out historical events through role play, and conduct guided research in order to piece together Canada’s history during this period. The following topics will be explored: Causes of WW1, Major Canadian Battles, the Conscription Crisis of 1917, and Ukrainian Internment Camps. These lessons are planned for a 90 minute class period.
