This resource pack explores the experience of a few minority groups in Canada
between 1914-1929 through the lens of various historical thinking concepts. The first lesson
explores the historical significance of immigration policies and their impact on situations such as
the landing of the Komogata Maru in British Columbia in 1914. The second lesson expands on
the theme of Canadian immigration by taking on multiple perspectives to analyze the Chinese
Head Tax. The third lesson focuses on the causes and consequences of the recruitment of
Francophone people into the Canadian army. The fourth and final lesson analyzes the changing
role of women and their contributions to society during and after WWI.
