This terracotta lunette is over the door of Sant'Agostino in Montepulciano and is attributed to Michelozzo, the architect of the lower two levels of the façade. The terracotta was presumably originally fully polychromed, but very little or nothing remains, because this sculpture is on the exterior of the building. (Glazed terracotta, which is much more resilient, was therefore often preferred for outdoor sculpture.) Photograph(s) licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
