The Storms We Weather: Exploring Early Primary Mental Health Programs and Resources in Canada

My final research project is divided into three sections: a review of the literature and an environmental scan reviewing Canadian mental health programs, the development of a children’s book, and a supplemental resource guide. My goal was to understand the current situation of mental health programming and strategies in Canada for early primary students. Once this review was complete, I worked to develop a literacy resource which could be implemented within the classroom. As many teachers need support with integrating mental health conversations into the classroom, the supplemental resource guide provides support and information for the educator and strategies to implement the resource (lesson plan, inquiry questions, and current research on trauma).
