Abstract

Description

Many students are struggling to develop effective writing skills, which are critical to be successful in education and employment. This project initially targets writing achievement, but through implementing the Self-Regulated Strategy Development instructional model, students improve their ability to self-regulate, reflect on their own learning and thinking, and are more motivated to complete written work. This project explores how teaching report writing strategies in conjunction with Self-Regulated Strategy Development can enhance student motivation for learning and writing achievement—what this would look like, sound like, and feel like in a junior classroom. This project is developed for teachers and classroom practice. There is a research-based website and accompanying user's manual to support the practical application of this instructional model.
