Abstract
This life-size sculpture of Christ, located in the Diocesan Museum of Teggiano, is made of cement, stucco and wood. The figure hangs on a cross made of wood. Paint was then added, rendering a more realistic depiction of Christ’s suffering. During a restoration project, restorers discovered a thick layer of papier-mâché on the sculpture when it was taken in for restoration. The papier-mâché was removed, and the effigy was restored to its original appearance. The polychromy appears to be intact.
