Abstract
This glazed terracotta frame for a looking glass, now located in the Museo Bandini in Fiesole, is an example of profane furnishing. Above is a vase flanked by griffins and below is a blue shield topped by a winged figure and two cornucopias. These grotesque motifs are typical of objects (especially frames) made in diverse media in the cinquecento, but the intense and varied coloring is typical of the productions of Giovanni della Robbia's workshop. An identical frame, surely made from the same mold, was sold in a private gallery in the 1960s. Photograph(s) licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
