Abstract

In the first of three alcoves in the left aisle of Nostra Signora del Sacro Cuore di Gesù in Rome is a large polychrome wooden sculpture of Christ Carrying the Cross on an altar. This sculpture is attributed to Mariano Pisana and dated to around 1755, according to the cited source; however, the attribution and dating cannot be confirmed. The polychromy is well-preserved, with Christ's clothing painted in maroon and deep green. Photograph(s) licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence.
