Abstract
This coat of arms, originally on the Palazzo Communale in Foiano della Chiana and now in the church museum of Santa Maria della Fraternita in Foiano, has been identified as that of the Bartoli, a Florentine family. Foiano was under Florentine rule (since 1348), and so this coat of arms must have been placed there when a Bartoli came as an administrator. In addition to the coat of arms, an alert dog and a flourishing fruit tree presumably signify fidelity and abundance.
