Abstract
This stucco relief (polychromy only partially preserved) depicts a rather stately Virgin Mary with baby Jesus standing, resting one foot on a plinth. The composition is based on the relief of the Madonna and Child in Andrea Sansovino's tomb of Lodovico Eufreducci in San Francesco in Fermo. The classicizing features and monumentality of the Virgin are typical of Andrea's style. The stucco version, currently housed in the Casa Museo Rodolfo Siviero in Florence, was likely made for domestic devotion.
