The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology examined the state of the health care system in Canada from 2001 - 2002. The committee looked at: the fundamental principles on which Canada's publicly funded health care system is based; the historical development of Canada's health care system; health care systems in foreign jurisdictions; the pressures on and constraints of Canada's health care system; and the role of the government of Canada's health care system.
