Abstract

These are decorative elements from an organ, which came from the Ospedale di Santa Maria della Scala in Siena to its current location in the Pinacoteca Nazionale in Siena. It is made of stucco, sculpted in very low relief, attached to a wooden base, and then painted and gilded. The motifs -- winged, naked boys, garlands, cornucopia, wreaths, etc. -- come from classical archiecture, sculpture, and painting.Photograph(s) licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
