Unsettling Settlers’ Colonial Privilege Through Performance: Movement, Sound, Participation, Play, Laughter. Phase One is a research-creation thesis on the development and testing of a life-sized board game designed to enable Canadian colonial settlers to examine their prejudices and acknowledge their biases towards the first peoples of this land (First Nations, Métis and Inuit), and explore actions they can engage in to decolonize themselves and Canada. This is the written component of the project, which I have used to examine what my team and I have undertaken on a practical level, and ask how we can develop the game in the future. I am using this thesis as an artistic tool - a personal and practical analysis of what I have learned during my tenure at Queen’s.
